The Steering Committee for re-new 2013 includes representatives from Copenhagen Institute for Interaction Design , The IT-University, Aalborg University, The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ School of Design and Athelas. The Advisory Board consists of international experts in media art, technology, theory, curating and production.

The event will will be held at PB43, Copenhagen, Denmark but will also hold a variety of affiliated events at other venues.

The conference has been set to four days Monday November 19 to Thursday November 22 with a lowered registration fee, and we have added a video presentation option.

All registered papers are evaluated for inclusion in the Cybernetics Revisited / IMAC 2102 LEA Special Edition Volume.

If your paper is not accepted, it will included in the regular IMAC 2012 proceedings, published after the conference by Ålborg University Press.

We are also very happy to announce the addition of the LEAF Art Science Cloud Curriculum workshop to the IMAC 2012 program. The workshop is chaired by Paul Thomas. and Morten Søndergaard and access to the workshop is only open to IMAC registered participants.

IMAC 2012 keynotes are Yvonne Spielmann, Andrew Pickering, Roy Ascott and Lanfranco Aceti, and the re-new 2012 artworks overview can be accessed here.

The combined interactive media conference and arts festival takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark on November 19-24 2012, and is a critical and inclusive project that addresses the use of interactive media in art and everyday use.

The overall theme for re-new / IMAC 2012 is Cybernetics – towards a third order? and will frame cybernetics in the un-controlled/-controllable organizations that penetrate and immerse contemporary mankind and society.

Selected papers from IMAC 2012 will be printed in a Leonardo Electronic Almanac (LEA) Special Edition.

re-new / IMAC 2012 is organized by re-new forum of digital art and Aalborg University.

New proposal submission deadline March 17

The re-new / IMAC 2012 takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark on November 19-24 2012. 

The combined media art and conference event is a critical and inclusive project that addresses the use of interactive media in art and everyday use. It combines a reflective attitude with an active approach and it is transversal in that it goes across institution profiles, production formats and consumption segments. The scope includes conferences, workshops, featured keynotes, video programs, installations and performative works. re-new / IMAC is always looking for persons and projects that help steer and scrutinize the vast and ever-expanding realm of contemporary culture.

The overall theme for re-new / IMAC 2012 will frame cybernetics in the un-controlled/-controllable organizations that penetrate and immerse contemporary mankind and society. Interaction, autonomy, innateness, emergence, meta materials, self-construction and -organization are among the factors that contribute to the field.
